We expect close to 2000 participants at this event. Please follow park rangers and race personnel's instructions so that the race will begin on time.
The race staging area is located in the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park (the Park) located a few miles south of Chattanooga. Allow at least 35 minutes from downtown Chattanooga to travel to the Park. Event signage with directional arrows to event Parking will be located on the roadside in the Park. Parking will be in the Recreation Field close to Wilder Tower in the Park's southwest corner, weather permitting. The field is on Glenn-Viniard Road .4 (4/10th) mile from the registration/start area, approximately a 10-minute walk.
Alternate parking will take place at Oakwood Baptist Church, if park rangers determine the recreation field is too muddy for parking. In either case, signage will be clearly visible showing the way to the correct parking area. The church is located approximately 4 (four) miles from the registration/start area, and participants will be bused to and from the staging area.
Participants are encouraged to lock their cars and take their keys with them wherever they park.
A bag check will be located in the registration area for participants to check their race packets and/or other personal items.
Day of Race Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
Take notice - This event takes place out in the open at a park. There is no shelter available for participants or spectators in case of inclement weather. Event tents are for registration and race personnel only.
Race announcements will begin at 7:00 a.m. Listen closely for any last minute changes.
Port-o-lets are located near the staging area. The race will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time whether or not participants are in those port-o-lets. Plan ahead.
Begin moving to the start line at 8:00 a.m.
Note that the Trail Race has a separate start line from the other events. Announcements will be made directing participants to the start lines about 8:00 a.m. Participants should pay attention to announcements to make sure they go to the correct start line. 15K and 5K racers should line up according to expected per mile pace signs. Walkers should line up behind the runners. Kiddie K participants should line up behind everybody as they will not start at the 8:30 mass start.
Presentation of Color and pre-race instructions begin at 8:20 a.m.
Participants must be in place at the start line by 8:20 a.m. Spectators must stay away from the area in front of the start line.
Gun-shot Race Start at 8:30 a.m.
The Chickamauga Chase 15K, 5K, and Scenic Walk will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. with a musket shot by a Civil War reenactor. Due to the mass start, expect the course to be congested for the first several hundred yards. If participants line up according to their correct race pace, congestion will be minimal. Kiddie K participants will start a few minutes after the other events.
The Chickamauga Chase Trail Race will also begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. at a separate start line. The course closes 2 hours after the race begins.
Kiddie K finishers begin arriving at the finish line about 8:40 a.m.
5K finishers begin arriving at the finish line about 8:45 a.m. and continue through about 9:15 a.m. The course closes 45 minutes after the race begins.
15K finishers begin arriving at the finish line about 9:20 a.m. The course closes 2 hours and 15 minutes after the race begins.
The 5K awards ceremony will begin at 10:15 a.m. followed by the Trail Race ceremony and then the 15K ceremony.
